A SPEECH DELIVERED BY CHIEMEKA CHIEDOZIE TO THE YOUTHS OF PENIEL
CHURCH OF UNIVERSE ON 14TH SEPTERMBER 2008 AT THE CHURCH PREMISES.
THEME: ‘BET YOU ARE SOMEBODY IN LIFE’
Good ladies and gentle men. I am chiemeka chiedozie, a graduate from
the Nigerian institute of Journalism, Ogba Lagos, Nigeria. I want to
appreciate your cooperation for granting me this apple opportunity to
speak on this topic” BET YOU ARE SOMEBODY IN LIFE”
Do you know
you are created for a purpose in life (Col 1:6, Gal 5: 4-5). Somebody
once said that if purpose is not known abuse is inevitable... You are
wonderfully made and created by God to excel beyond ordinary measures.
Bet you are somebody in life. Bet you are somebody because God never
take time to create a nobody.
The people who really succeeded in
life are people who are optimistic and bet they are somebody in life
despites their failures and circumstances. Believe you can achieve
greatness in life in respective of your background, sex, religion, age,
color, racism and posture. Success is not measured by these attributes
but is measure by your eagerness to become somebody in life.
Some
people do not see the rose within themselves. Some one else must know
it to them. In dealing with people, you must look at a person; you don’t
need to have a college degree to serve them. You done need to see
President Olusegun Obasanjo Governor Babatunde Fashola or President Yara
Adua to make it in life, you don’t need to know Bill Gates, the former
richest man in the world or Warren Buffet, the current richest man in
the world before you can make it happen in your life. You done need to
know Albert Einstein theory of relativity or the law of gravity by Isaac
Newton to serve.
The problem of many people today is that they
think they can make in life and always asked themselves who am i? What
is my future ambition? What do I really want to achieve in life? And
what step can I take now to get there?. You are the only he created. Let
me share my little experience with you. When I got admission to the
Nigerian Institute of Journalism, my parents never had money on them to
pay my school fees but I was hoping and praying that the money will come
some day. I have almost lost my admission due to the fact I couldn’t
pay my school fees as expected. I say to myself I am going to be
somebody in life and today by God grace I am one of the most successful
youth in this great country who has achieved greatness in life.
Moreover, the question is who are you? Before you can answer it, you
must ask yourself these what are my strength? What do I really want to
get accomplished? Who am i? Why God do created me and put me here? How
much potential do I have? How can I maximize my ability for his glory?
Do you enjoy working with computers, car etc, may be you are an adept
people manager or you like fixing things or you are good at singing,
drawing, sketching, dancing, making people laugh, preaching, reciting,
and writing. Once you have identified with all these question an your
pulse race go for it. Done waste time or get side trackled
Let me
tell you this. God’s personally formed and made you to be somebody in
life. Dou you know? There are songs that were never sung, books that
were never written, ideas that were never shared, inventions that were
never designed, and purpose that were never fulfilled . There is a
vacuum in your life that no body can fill except you. You are born to be
somebody in life. Try and be yourself and not somebody else’s. You are
not your parents, or you are your uncle or aunty, or somebody very close
to you. You are somebody God want you to be.
I will tell you
peoples who have learned to be somebody in life in their unlimited
abilities enough to succeed far better than experts say they should.
Do you know Wole Soyinka failed many times before he made it in life.
Abraham Lincoln, 16 American president failed before he became a notable
figure in America history. Plato was hunch back, M.K.O Abiola was
dumped in the dustbin at birth because no body knows he was going to
make it in life an also started as poverty. John Bunyan, a pilgrimage
wrote Robinson Crusoe in prison, Sir Walter Raleigh wrote the history of
the world in prison while confine in the castle of Wartburg. Thomas
Edison, the inventor of electric light was sent home for complete
indolence in Harvard University.
Moreso, Charles stein Metz, the
electrical invertor died in 1923 was deformed at birth. Jesus was
betrayed in the bible yet he made it. Joseph was sold to Egypt at 17 and
was falsefully accused by his brothesr and yet he rose to become a
Prime Minister in Egypt. Charles Dicken,a writer, an author was left in
infancy and was asked to withdraw from school because of school fees.
James Russell was suspended from Harvard university for complete
indolence, yet he made effort to climb to a higher place. James watt was
the butt of jokes in his class, yet he made it happed.
Franklin
Roosevelt was paralyzed from the waist, yet he became America
Presisdent, Beethoven that great composer was a deaf man yet, he wrote
five of his greatest symphonies without hearing a note. Washington was a
chemist by profession but later rose to become America president. king
Jaja of Opobo, was a a slave yet, he founded Opobo town after coming
back from exile in the West Indies without compromising, Winston
Churchill, one of Britain Prime Minister was a stamarer yet he became
the best orator in the world after a life time of defeat at 62. Oliver
Goldsmith was the bottom of his class and was described by his friends
as an inspired idiot.
Gani Fawehinmi, one of the best lawyer in
Nigeria had a third class in Law yet, he made it happened. Aliko
Dangote, one of the richest man in Nigeria was never successful as a
youth yet, he made it. Tuface Idibia, one of the best and richest
artiste in Africa was not too educated yet he made it.. Ben Carson, the
world most successful surgeon, was abandoned at birth by his family.
Matthew Stanley,. one of the best dribbler in the world was an amateur.
John Foppe, an author was born without arms and even other birth
mistakes or defeat. Napoleon was 42 in his class before he became
successful in life.
Finally, you are somebody in life. God never
take time to create a nobody. I must say this that great men are
ordinary men with great amount of determination. Bet you can have
distinction, you can be a genius, you can make it happen, you can be the
best and you can achieve greatness in life.
Keep saying what you
want to be and not what you are, keep saying what you want to see, what
you want to be is more permanent that what you are.
